Rick Dangerous OK - This about the stupidest thing we have ever done. Or considered doing.

We are driving around 3000 kilometers through India in a rickshaw. Now, racing across an entire subcontinent in a vehicle built for popping down the shops isn't easy.

Starting at Pondicherry in the south east and finishing in Shillong in the north east of India we will follow no route with no plans and no backup vehicles, no doctors, no translators, no fixers, and no help. Neither of us have driven a motorised rickshaw before and none of us have any mechanical knowledge whatsover; but we are all brave and/or foolish. Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman got nothing!

So as we're putting out lives (yes lives!) on the line, please sponsor us to raise money for Frank Water Projects and Mercy Corps. Your money will help change the lives of people with dire health and economic needs and help some of the world's poorest families.

Ok, so, since Gareth is the worst blogger in history, I've been left with the responsibility of updating you all with what happened for the rest of the trip. Anyway, here we go...

Day 5:

We made it a total of 47km from Hyderabad. Woooo go us! Most of the day was spent mucking around doing nothing, after eating about  billion pieces of toast for breakfast. We visited some craft markets which had closed a day earlier, and the few stalls left still tried to rip us off. But it was interesting nevertheless. As we left Hyderabad, we had to first figure out how to get OUT of the city, and this was the biggest challenge, luckily we made it. And by sunset, we'd travelled 47km north to a small town named Medchal, where we decided to hole up for the night. We took our rickshaws across the road to get them serviced, hopefully reducing the chance of breakdown, and we chilled at the hotel. The dinner was (in my opinion) the best I had the entire trip, while Gareth and Dan enjoyed polishing off a bottle of Royal Challenge.

Day 6:

We tried to do a record drive to get to Nagpur. Unfortunately, due to the wonderful service provided by children in Medchal, the other guys' rickshaws all broke down. Not ours though! Rick kept on trucking! Regardless of this, we didn't make it all the way. We covered 407km before having to stop in Hinganghat. This was voted all round as the WORST town we stayed in. The hotel cost 220 rupees for a twin room. Thats just over £3. And...[Read More]
